Located on the St Lucia campus as part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the School is home to more than 2100 domestic and international students, 14 professional staff and 60 active teaching and research staff. Its accomplished scholars claim a large share of Australia’s economics honours, national teaching awards, competitive research grants, fellowships, publications and media coverage. The School also has an established research centre and an active seminar and visitor program, providing exposure to researchers from around the world.

About This Opportunity

As the Professor in any Applied Economics area, you will demonstrate outstanding contributions to teaching, research, service and engagement whilst providing and exhibiting leadership in the School and University and a range of settings. You will be required to demonstrate a sustained record of outstanding international achievement and impact in an Applied Economics area, leading research groups and providing mentorship to junior academics and researchers. As a partner in research within the University and beyond, addressing challenges of relevance to Applied Economics, you will be expected to present at key domestic and international conferences and universities, and engage in collaborations which yield new insights and opportunities.

As a senior stakeholder within the school, you will demonstrate successful coordination of a significant aspect of a program or contribution to the development of teaching within the school. With an ability to teach across different settings and engaging in face-to-face, online and/or blended modes of teaching preparation and delivery; the Professor in Economics will be expected to achieve teaching quality and have a record of HDR student supervision to completion. In addition to your teaching and research responsibilities, you will be expected to effectively perform a range of higher-level internal duties and make a strong contribution to the governance and collegial life of the institution.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Our Ideal Candidate

With expert knowledge in any area of Applied Economics, you will demonstrate an established track record of publishing in world leading and internationally journals in Economics in addition an outstanding citation record. You will demonstrate a high-quality teaching record and evidence of significant teaching innovation and leadership and experience in leading course and program development, as well as evidence of your ability to engage in successful outcome-orientated partnerships at the university and community level. As a senior stakeholder within the school, it is essential that you possess the ability to engage efficiently and effectively in allocated services roles, including leadership responsibilities. A PhD in Economics or a directly related discipline, and evidence of your ability to successfully obtain research grants, are essential.

What We Can Offer

We are recruiting to two full-time, continuing position at Academic level E.

The base salary will be $189,130, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be up to $221,282.  A market loading may also be included where appropriate.

Our Selection Process
