Overview

The position focuses on international business, including:

  • International expansion of firms

  • Management of multinational companies

  • Strategic and societal considerations in global business

  • Interdisciplinary research on international business issues

The professor will be responsible for research, doctoral education, teaching, and leadership within the field.


Duties

  • Lead research groups within international business

  • Conduct own research and contribute to the department’s research environment

  • Supervise doctoral students and oversee third-cycle education

  • Teach and supervise at all levels (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral)

  • Plan, initiate, and lead research and education programs

  • Apply for and manage external research funding

  • Administrative duties, including potential department-level leadership roles

  • Dedicate ~50% of working hours to personal research

  • Eligible for a paid sabbatical (currently one semester every six years)


Required Qualifications

Research Expertise:

  • Demonstrated independent research of very high quality by international standards

  • Ability to lead, develop, and plan research projects

  • Proven ability to obtain research funding competitively

  • Supervisory experience for doctoral students

  • Breadth and depth in international business studies, including theoretical approaches and quantitative/qualitative methods

Teaching Expertise:

  • Extensive portfolio of teaching and supervision across all levels

  • Ability to integrate research into teaching

  • Knowledge of subject didactics and higher education pedagogy

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to collaborate and lead teams

  • Experience with administrative and management responsibilities is an asset

  • Ability to communicate research and engage with wider society

Language Requirements:

  • Ability to teach in Swedish or English; must achieve competence in the other language within two years if initially lacking

Professional Suitability:

  • Team-working abilities, leadership skills, and overall suitability to perform duties effectively


Assessment Criteria

  • Primary Weight: Research and teaching expertise, with research expertise given particular attention

  • Secondary Weight: Administrative and leadership skills, teamwork, and societal engagement

  • Evaluation considers both quality and scope of research, teaching, and other expertise

  • International track record and ability to lead research in international business are highly valued
