Your main goal is to further advance and profile economic research and education according to the field of expertise in line with the importance of the chair. Apart from your own research, you will play a stimulating role in U.S.E. research, to promote a research environment according to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and to engage in activities aimed at attracting external research funding through grants and consulting. Additional duties include supervision of PhD and Postdoctoral research resulting in theses and publications and the transfer of knowledge to society by organising events, such as conferences and workshops. Teaching will be multidisciplinary and applied in nature according to the U.S.E. educational profile. Cooperation with other chair groups within U.S.E. and Utrecht University in teaching and research is strongly encouraged. The tasks and responsibilities of the chair will include:
You are a passionate and creative academic with a strong background in economics and a genuine interest in Global Economic Challenges and Development. You have strong research skills and are willing and able to reach out to researchers active in other disciplines. This requires an open and inquisitive mind and a willingness to experiment and explore new avenues and methods in research and academic teaching. You have a strong publication track record, preferably testifying to the ability to work in multidisciplinary research teams on topics related to the position. Teaching experience in the field of global economic challenges is considered a plus.
As the position aims to address real world global challenges we also expect the candidate to be willing and able to communicate complex scientific results and insights to a wider audience of policy makers, societal stakeholders and the wider public. Proven ability in this respect is considered a plus.
