Position Overview

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applications for the Michael D. Johnson Family Professorship of Services Marketing in the Marketing and Management Communications Area, with a school affiliation in the Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration.

This professorship may be filled at the tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor level.

Location: Ithaca, New York


Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
  • Teaching marketing courses at the undergraduate, master's, and/or Ph.D. levels.
  • Supervising doctoral candidates.
  • Providing service to the Marketing and Management Communications Area, the Nolan School of Hotel Administration, and/or the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Ph.D. in Marketing or a related field (e.g., economics, psychology, statistics, behavioral science, or related discipline).
  • A tenurable publication record in top-tier marketing journals.
  • Publications in hospitality, travel, or service-focused journals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with hospitality industry leaders.
  • Strong record of teaching undergraduate, master's, and executive-level courses.
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality research relevant to the service industry.
  • Willingness to develop expert knowledge of services marketing within the hospitality industry.

About the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business

Established on July 1, 2016, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business combines three schools:

  • Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson).
  • Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson).
  • Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan).

Faculty across the three schools collaborate within a unified Marketing and Management Communications Area, which includes 21 tenure-track marketing faculty.

Faculty members are expected to teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.

Salary

Minimum Annual Base Salary: $220,000 – $450,000

This salary represents 9 months of base pay, paid over 12 months, and excludes incentives, bonuses, or other additional compensation.
