Duties and responsibilities
  • Coordinating and conducting teaching in oral history and memory studies on all study levels within the framework of study programs in Literature and Cultural Research (BA); Ethnology, Folkloristics and Applied Anthropology (MA); Folkloristics and Applied Heritage Studies (MA); Literature and Cultural Research (PhD) as well as related graduate and post-graduate schools.
  • Supervising BA, MA and PhD students.
  • Leading international research and development activities in the field of oral history and memory studies, ensuring the availability of the necessary resources for this purpose and supervising post-graduate students and academic staff involved in these activities.
  • To take care of the formation of capable young scholars by involving them in R&D activities and providing opportunities for self-improvement.
  • Developing of specialist terminology and didactical material on oral history and memory studies in the Estonian language.
  • Participating in university management and institutional developing activities.
  • Improving their skills in teaching, research and development and management.
  • Participating in working groups and/or expert groups related to the promotion and implementation of their profession.
  • Popularizing the field of oral history and memory studies.
Required qualifications
PhD or an equivalent qualification.
 
Required experience
  • R&D prerequisite is high level scientific and administrative competence.
  • The candidate should demonstrate internationally recognized professional research in oral history and memory studies in the volume of at least three doctoral theses and in the volume of at least 1.5 doctoral theses during the last five years.
  • The candidate is expected to succeed in applying for research funding and experience in international cooperation.
  • Teaching prerequisite is the ability to organize and teach at all levels of higher education. The candidate should demonstrate previous teaching experience at the first two study levels, the effective supervising of MA and PhD students, experience in creating study and teaching aids for higher education institutions as well as knowledge of learning environments, teaching methods and their development opportunities.
  • The candidate is expected to have experience in organizing scientific events and academic management, applied research and popularizing their scientific field.
  • Experience in team or project management.
Required language skills
Estonian and at least two other languages for teaching and research.
