Professor/Associate Professor of Health and Society

Roskilde University Department of People and Technology

Department of People and Technology, Roskilde University, invites applications for a tenure position as either professor or associate professor of Health and Society from 1th of August or as soon as possible thereafter.

The research area of health and society and the actors within, is one of the focus areas of the department of People and Technology. The research group aims to develop humanistic health research and knowledge that contributes to improving the conditions for good and healthy lives and healthy societies. Practices and concepts of health in a broader sense, including healthcare and social care, are theorized as embedded in societal, historical, organizational, and cultural development and environments. Our research investigates implications of these conditions as well as question existing knowledge and discourses on health. Equity, access, sustainability and welfare are guiding perspectives in our study of health strategies, including political and educational strategies, and institutional welfare practices as well as in the study of health in everyday life settings, in communities and as part of identities and subjective experience.

In accordance with RUC’s strategical orientations, the research is interdisciplinary, problem-centered and applied, and we emphasize cooperation with fields of practices and institutions outside RUC, both nationally and internationally. Knowledge sharing and co-development with key actors is a fundamental part of our ways of developing and practicing education and research, and we have a long tradition of involving public and private institutions and organizations, private companies, NGOs and others, in both our research and teaching.

We are expanding the research group with one new position, and we are looking for an excellent candidate at either professor or associate professor level within one of the research groups focus areas.
