Research Assistant I in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 511457) (to commence as soon as possible for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Architecture or related design-based discipline, with a strong understanding of Structural Design, Materials and Building Technology.  They should be proficient in using computational design and fabrication/ prototyping, and have experience in using Rhino and Grasshopper, with proven experience in architectural practice and design-built projects.  Fluency in English is required and proficiency in Mandarin/ Cantonese would be advantageous.

The appointee will work closely with Dr. Eike Schling and his students for the project “Asymptotic Building Envelope - Simplifying the fabrication and assembly of free-form construction” and other teaching and research projects.  He/She will perform academic and research-based duties, including computational model-development, prototyping and prototype construction coordination, and assist in teaching courses and studios related to the topic.
