Work­ing field:

Imple­ment redox-depend­ent out­gass­ing and impact depend­ent escape into a coupled cli­mate-chem­istry model of the atmo­sphere dur­ing the early Hadean period. In par­tic­u­lar:
  • Val­id­ate and ana­lyse model out­put in terms of atmo­spheric cli­mate and com­pos­i­tion
  • Inter­pret res­ults in the broad con­text of the emer­gence of hab­it­able con­di­tions on Earth and Earth-like plan­ets
  • Pub­lish res­ults in inter­na­tional peer-reviewed sci­entific journ­als and and present at inter­na­tional con­fer­ence

Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in phys­ics, met­eor­o­logy, geo­phys­ics, applied math­em­at­ics or related dis­cip­lines
  • solid pro­gram­ming exper­i­ence in a high-level lan­guage (FOR­TRAN, C, Python, or sim­ilar)
  • basic know­ledge of astro­phys­ics, atmo­spheric cli­mate and chem­istry
  • exper­i­ence in numer­ical mod­el­ing, espe­cially of (exo)plan­et­ary atmo­spheres is desir­able
  • good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish required; will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted
