Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Medicine (Ref.: 508674) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics or related disciplines, with at least 1 year’s post-qualification experience.  They should have a strong quantitative background; experience in analyzing statistical data through advanced programming (R, SAS, Stata, Python or other packages); demonstrated a high level of expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets; excellent communication skills; and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.  Relevant experience in big-data manipulation or decision analytics with a track record of publications would be advantageous.  Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered as Research Assistant I/II.

The appointee will join an internationally active team of researchers in the development studies on big-data and simulation modelling in health service, under the supervision of Dr. Shirley Li.  He/She will be responsible for applied epidemiology studies using electronic medical records through classic and novel epidemiologic study designs, and data manipulation and visualization.  Working projects including vaccine safety and effectiveness research, biologics and biosimilars utilization research, health economics and outcome research.  He/She will also assist in preparing scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; provide general administrative and operational support; and perform other duties as assigned.  Enquiries about the duties of the post should be directed to Dr. Li at
