The AV depart­ment is look­ing for a research assist­ant for IoTwins. IoTwins is a European pro­ject that aims to lower the bar­ri­ers for the uptake of Industry 4.0 tech­no­lo­gies to optim­ize pro­cesses and increase pro­ductiv­ity, safety, resi­li­ency, and envir­on­mental impact. Its approach is based on a tech­no­lo­gical plat­form allow­ing a simple and low-cost access to big data ana­lyt­ics func­tion­al­ity, AI ser­vices and edge cloud infra­struc­ture for the deliv­ery of digital twins in man­u­fac­tur­ing and facil­ity man­age­ment sec­tors. Work­ing field:

The research assist­ant is respons­ible for sup­port­ing the exist­ing team in man­aging the pro­ject, imple­ment­ing required fea­tures, dis­sem­in­at­ing the res­ults, and trans­fer­ring the exper­i­ence to the lar­ger research area of indus­trial com­mu­nic­a­tion with a focus on Edge Com­put­ing. A PhD thesis pre­par­a­tion is pos­sible and highly sug­ges­ted.

Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence or equi­val­ent (solid found­a­tions of dis­trib­uted com­put­ing and net­work­ing)
  • very good Eng­lish lan­guage skills; good know­ledge of Ger­man required or will­ing­ness to learn it
  • pro­ject man­age­ment skills
  • strong know­ledge in sys­tems pro­gram­ming
  • basics in hand­ling Linux sys­tems
  • basics in sci­entific work and writ­ing
  • basics in dis­trib­uted AI / big data approaches
Exper­i­ence in one or more of the fol­low­ing areas are of advant­age:
  • indus­trial field­buses (e.g. PROFINET)
  • real-time sys­tems (e.g. IEEE TSN, RTLinux)
