Work­ing field:

Research in the field of non-equi­lib­rium stat­ist­ical phys­ics of soft mat­ter and related areas. The pos­i­tion is attached to the Col­lab­or­at­ive Research Cen­ter 910 "Con­trol of self-organ­iz­ing non­lin­ear sys­tems: The­or­et­ical meth­ods and con­cepts of applic­a­tion". It should con­nect to research in pro­ject B2
"Con­trol of dynam­ical struc­tures and trans­port in driven col­loidal sys­tems” which involves the ana­lysis of clas­sical stochastic sys­tems with feed­back via ana­lyt­ical and numer­ical meth­ods, as well as con­cepts from stochastic ther­mo­dy­nam­ics. CIn par­al­lel, col­lab­or­a­tions with other pro­jects in the CRC 910 should be advanced.

Require­ments:

Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) and doc­toral degree in phys­ics. Strong back­ground in the­or­et­ical phys­ics, in par­tic­u­lar, stat­ist­ical phys­ics, is essen­tial. Exper­i­ences with ana­lyt­ical and numer­ical meth­ods for non-equi­lib­rium soft con­densed mat­ter and stochastic sys­tems are advant­age­ous. Inde­pend­ent work style and high level of com­mit­ment. Good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish required; will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted.
