Position Description

The Department of Microbiology at the University of Washington in Seattle is conducting a search for a Research Assistant Professor in the field of bacterial social activities. The investigator will be able to interact with University of Washington scientists interested in chronic bacterial infections. The position is a 12-month, full time, non-tenure track position in the School of Medicine. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The anticipated start date is Spring 2021.

We are looking for an innovative scientist with a track-record as a principal investigator capable of independent research on the role of bacterial communication in chronic bacterial infections. A minimum of 5 years experience performing postdoctoral research, and a strong record of graduate and postgraduate publication, in microbial molecular biology, bioenergy science, and/or genetic engineering is required.

Candidates for this position must hold a PhD degree in microbiology or related discipline (or foreign equivalent). An MD or foreign equivalent is also acceptable.
