Research Associate in 3D Imaging Cytometry

We are currently seeking a postdoctoral research associate to join an exciting commercialisation initiative between the laboratories of Dr Kevin O'Holleran (The Cambridge advanced imaging Centre [CAIC]) and Dr Steven Lee (Dept of Chemistry). The post is funded initially by an EPSRC follow-on impact acceleration grant. The goal is to create the world's first 3D imaging cytometer. In the initial stages, IP has been filed, and some market research conducted. The next key challenge in this project is to develop a minimum viable product based on our laboratory prototype. The aim of commercialising our 3D imaging cytometer is to bring richer data to researchers seeking to answer difficult biological questions. The new data could be transformative in unlocking new drug treatments or in diagnosing disease and therefore might play a role in improving human and animal health.

Applicants with experience in engineering, biophysics, microfluidics, optics, photonics or related disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience with advanced fluorescence techniques, hardware automation and programming would be advantageous. Candidates should have a keen interest in applying physical methods to complex systems and must enjoy working in a highly multidisciplinary, dynamic and collaborative environment.

The successful applicant will be based in CAIC and spend time within the Lee lab in the Department of Chemistry. The project is funded for 10 months in the first instance with additional funding being sought to extend commercial development up to two years.
