The Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE) at Michigan State University announces an available Research Associate (postdoctoral) Fixed-Term position for research and capacity building as part of its Malawi-related activities under the Agricultural Transformation Initiative (ATI) funded by the Foundation for a Smoke Free World (FSFW). The anticipated position is available starting on or about March 1, 2021. Initial funding would be for 9-months, with extension possible based on funding and performance. The physical location of the Research Associate is flexible, recognizing that there may be advantages to be based near the MSU campus in East Lansing, Michigan.
The Research Associate is expected to work closely with on-campus faculty and Malawi-based staff.

Doctorate -Agricultural economics, development econmics
Ph.D. in agricultural economics, development economics, or related field
Experience in international development research and outreach, with a strong preference for those with in-country experience, whether extensive short-term or living overseas
Excellent communication and academic writing skills
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Strong professional ethics and dedication to high quality research
Strong commitment to working with local counterparts and building their skills
Formal teaching experience and/or previous experience conducting technical trainings for researchers
Software expertise in at least most of the following:
Stata; SPSS; Wix Editor; Google Analytics; Open Data Kit (ODK)
