A Research Associate/Fellow is required to undertake research as part of a three-and-a-half-year BBSRC-funded grant titled: “Diving deeper: unravelling how plants regulate root growth angle”. The successful candidate will employ genetic, molecular, and physiological approaches in conjunction with omics techniques to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that govern root growth angle in cereal crops. This exciting project is a collaborative effort involving biologists, biochemists, and biophysicists, and it directly builds upon our previous work that identified a novel gene, Enhanced Gravitropism 1 (EGT1), which controls root angle in barley and wheat (Fusi et al., 2022 PNAS).

Candidate must have, or be close to completion of, a PhD in Plant biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Genetics or related biological science (or near completion).

This is a 3.5 year fixed-term post available from 1st Sept 2023 and funding terms and conditions stipulate that the start date must be no later than 1st December 2023. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week). Arrangements for job share may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Rahul Bhosale: Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
