The Centre for Climate Finance and Investment (CCFI), is hiring a Research Associate to execute a diverse range of research activities related to climate risk management, green capital markets, and financing net zero carbon ambitions.  The role will have specific attention towards our new initiative in Singapore. 

Funded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and 9 financial institutions, the Singapore Green Finance Centre (SGFC) will create an ecosystem of practitioners working towards capital markets-led solutions to global climate change. 

This role would involve a high degree of teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Research Associate will be based in London, start date immediately. Duties will cover all aspects of the operations of the SGFC, working jointly with Dr Charles Donovan and other investigators and researchers associated with the CCFI. Areas of primary responsibility will be:

Duties and responsibilities

    • Acquire and filter research data
    • Conduct literature reviews
    • Manage the development of industry-oriented research reports and discussion papers.
    • Act as co-author on research outputs and provide inputs to all stages of the research process: drafting, empirical analysis, editing and final review
    • Prepare material for presentation to government and finance industry stakeholders in oral and slide formats
    • Deliver presentations to key stakeholder groups
    • Develop contacts within the College and the wider sustainable finance research community
    • Develop expertise on climate risks and opportunities that can be translated into real world impact
    • Prioritise tasks within agreed work schedule
    • Support senior academics on the translation of academic papers to a wider practitioner audience

Essential requirements

    • PhD degree in finance, economics or another quantitative discipline
    • Track record of non-academic publishing on sustainable finance and investment  
    • Experience of handling, and quantitative analysis of large datasets
    • Experience leading a research team in a demanding research environment, such as a top-tier NGO, industry trade body, and/or multilateral organization
    • Experience of communicating on research issues with decision makers outside academia
    • Knowledge of business and finance and familiarity with concepts such as cost of capital, credit risk assessment, portfolio management, & corporate financial practices
    • Awareness of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement and international efforts to manage risks associated with climate change
