Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on tropical cyclones. You will join the group of Prof Ralf Toumi and will be based in the Space and Atmospheric Physics Group, Department of Physics, the Tropical cyclone research team. 

The project aims to advance our understanding of the risk tropical cyclone pose to the global financial system. We are specifically interested in the track, wind and rainfall of tropical cyclones making landfall. To achieve this new understanding, the project will make joint use of modelling and observations.

Duties and responsibilities

You will carry out research relevant to the project aims. This may include analysis of results from international climate model intercomparison projects and comparable observational datasets, complementary novel experimentation with models and theories.

Essential requirements

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in an area relevant to climate science, a strong track record of research publications, experience of analysing large data sets and a knowledge of and interest in tropical cyclones

Further information

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £36,045 - £39,183 per annum.
