The DFG-funded research project “Transformation of Legal Instruments in EU Environmental Law”, hosted by the University of Tübingen, Germany, is inviting applications for a position as

Research associate (m/f/d, E13 TV-L, 60%)

at the Chair for Public Law, Environmental Law, Law of Infrastructure and Comparative Law, Prof. Dr. Johannes Saurer, LL.M. (Yale). The starting date is 1.05.2024 or earlier. The successful candidate will receive a fixed-term contract until 31 October 2026 at the E13 level of the German pay scale (60 % TV-L E13). There is the option to extend the contract to a maximum duration of 3 years.

The DFG-funded research project “Transformation of Legal Instruments in EU Environmental Law” examines transformations of the EU's legal instruments for the protection of natural foundations of life, including the climate and biodiversity. The project provides a forum for national and international discourse on legal instruments in EU environmental law. The project organises theme-specific workshops and publishes research results.

The tasks associated with this role include:

  • Writing a monograph as part of the research project
  • Organisation of workshops and conferences
  • Participation and involvement in events

Necessary for the role:

  • Successfully completed First State Examination in law (§ 5 Absatz 1 DRiG) or equivalent
  • Interest in research in Public Law, Environmental Law and EU Law in international andinterdisciplinary perspective
  • Requirements of the doctoral degree regulation of the Faculty of Law of the University of Tübingen (Promotionsordnung der Juristischen Fakultät der Universität Tübingen).

The position offers the opportunity to obtain the degree of Dr. iur. (Promotionsordnung der Juristischen Fakultät der Universität Tübingen).
