The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University School of Medicine is seeking to appoint an Associate Research Scientist.
This position primarily carries out activities directed towards the production of PET radiotracers for use in human research studies. This involves the daily production of radiotracers either by:
Setting up and operating GE Tracerlab synthesis modules, or
Manual synthesis in lead-lined hoods (hot cells) using manipulators.
Process validation of new radiotracers under guidance from the lead production chemist or director of radiochemistry
Daily maintenance of synthesis modules and assistance with GE service engineers for major service
Ordering and monitoring inventory of production materials
Daily recording of laboratory operational parameters
Participate in the investigation and prevention of anomalous events
May be cross-trained in QC analysis and cyclotron operation
Other duties as assigned
Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a related science preferred
Attention to detail and strong logical reasoning for root cause analyses and corrective action proposals
Ability to begin workdays at 7:00 AM
Experience working with controlled radiation exposure in a PET laboratory
Demonstrated ability to master aseptic technique
