£27511 to £40322 per annum (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £30942 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Applications are invited for the above post within Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham to investigate advanced façade systems for building application.

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they meet the Role Profile Criteria both in their application and at interview.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD degree (or about to obtain) or equivalent,  in building services engineering, mechanical engineering, solar energy engineering or chemical engineering, material science or a related quantitative field. Programming skills in Integrated Energy Solutions (IES), Energy Plus (ENERGY+), Ray-tracing, RADIANCE, CFD and experience in advanced glazing system design and development, thermal and optical tests of glazing systems are essential. Experience in synthesising and characterising thermotropic membrane will be desirable.

 The primary role is to conduct research into the development of advanced glazing façade with low-U value and dynamic daylight control to reduce energy demands in buildings in support of the EPSRC funded ‘Advanced building façade design for optimal delivery of end use energy demand’ project. You will design, develop, and characterise the proposed advanced façade system. You will evaluate building performance (lighting, thermal and energy) with integration of the developed advanced façade system and monitor system performances.

 You will also be expected to disseminate your research widely, support other post-graduate researchers, and to develop new research collaborations and proposals.

 This role is available on a fixed term contract until 30/06/2023. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
