£27924 to £40927 per annum (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £31406 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance

Applications are invited for the above post within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. The faculty has an excellent international reputation for high quality theoretical and experimental research. The successful candidate will develop approaches to modelling of micro-engineered resonant sensing devices and will aid the development of state-of-the-art design concepts.

Candidates must have experience of dynamics/vibration and applying computational software tools (e.g. finite element method) to the analysis of mechanical systems.  The candidate will also have experience of mathematical modelling and the development of MATLAB/Simulink models.

Candidates are expected to hold a first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or engineering with a background in dynamics and vibration or a related discipline and a PhD (or about to obtain) or equivalent in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.

Candidates are expected to be proactive, open-minded, and collaborative. They will need to be able to undertake research and perform communication activities (including the writing of reports and publications and the presentation of results at conferences and meetings) with a minimum of supervision.

This full-time (36.25 Hour) post is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
