Research Fellow – Design and Fabrication of Nanostructured Antibacterial Oxide Film

The Entropic Interface Group (EIG) of SUTD has an opportunity available for a one-year Research Fellow position in the area of design and fabrication of nanostructured antibacterial oxide film, in collaboration with microbiologists and medical doctors in a Singapore hospital. This position is supported by CGH-SUTD HealthTech Innovation Fund (HTIF) (Project Number: CGH-SUTD-HTIF-2020-001).

The candidate must be self-motivated, able to work cooperatively in diverse multi-disciplinary teams, and has strong laboratory skills. Primary functions for this role will include:

  • Collaborating with theorist to design and optimize the hydrothermal synthesis process of antibacterial films
  • Development and Fabrication of nanostructured antibacterials oxide films
  • Study of physicochemical properties of the synthesized films
  • Work in partnership with microbiologists and medical doctors for new solutions to prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
  • Presentation and publication of results


  • Ph.D. Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or relevant subjects is required
  • Hands-on research laboratory experience is required
  • Prior research experience in the hydrothermal synthesis of nanostructured surfaces is preferred

This will require a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, and careful attention to detail.
