The ACTAlab ( at SUTD seeks applicants for a full-time postdoctoral position in high entropy alloys. The successful candidate will use high throughput methods to develop a library of new high entropy alloys. He or she will also study the properties of the HEAs using structural, electronic, and photonic techniques. In particular, the aim will be to understand, design, and optimise HEAs that are resistant to high energy ionising radiation and have a high thermal conductivity. The position involves collaborating work with theorists who are also studying these same material.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a PhD in Physics, Material Science, or a related field.
  • knowledge and experience of sputtering
  • a thorough understanding of metallurgy
  • Knowledge of structural and mechanical characterization techniques
  • high level of motivation.
  • a positive personality.
  • a good level of written and verbal English communication.
  • a proven publication record.
  • knowledge of optical design and computer programming will be an advantage.
  • he/she should also be willing to work in collaboration with theorists.
