Research Fellow in Oesophageal Cancer Disease Models

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in the research area of Oesophageal Cancer Disease models? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join an interdisciplinary team focusing on the molecular mechanistic understanding of oesophageal cancer and precursor dysplasia using novel disease models. Following an unbiased screen of signal transduction in cell lines representing the pre-adenocarcinoma Barrett’s Oesophagus and adenocarcinoma, we have established the identity of a number of pathways that could be responsible for progression to cancer. We have received funding through a donor to progress this knowledge to disease models based on organoids. Using these model systems we intend to recapitulate tissue conditions experienced by cells in the oesophagus to investigate our findings further. Correlation of the molecular mechanistic interpretation of the data with patient data will enable us to identify novel routes to diagnosis and potential pharmaceutical intervention with significant effects on patient survival.
