The Opportunity

Reporting to Associate Professor, Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health, School of Psychological Sciences, The Postdoctoral Research Fellow provides a variety of high-quality research services to support the operations of the Epidemiology of Dementia (Epi-D) Research Group led by Associate Professor Matthew Pase. This includes contributing to the groups key initiatives including prospective cohort studies, clinical studies, and consortia focused on (1) understanding risk and protective factors for cognitive impairment and dementia and (2) validating biomarkers to improve dementia prediction and diagnosis.

You will be expected to contribute towards the research effort of the university and develop your research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects, specific duties required may include:

  • The conduct of research under limited supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently and the production or contribution to the production of conference and seminar papers and publications from that research
  • Involvement in professional activities including, subject to availability of funds, attendance at conferences and seminars in the field of expertise
  • Limited administrative functions primarily connected with the area of research of the academic
  • Experimental design and operation of advanced laboratory and technical equipment or conduct of advanced research procedures
  • Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected and/or at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a limited number of committees
  • Advice within the field of the staff member's research to postgraduate students

The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualifications in psychology, neurology, or a closely related field and have knowledge in the field of brain science, such as the study of cognition, cognitive disorders, neuropsychology, cognitive neurology, dementia, stroke, or brain imaging.
