Research Fellow in Sensing and Mechatronics

Are you an Engineer with experience in Sensing and mechatronics looking to develop your career in an academic environment? Do you want to apply your skills to help our textile industry? Would you like to be part of a team working on a project to develop a sensory system that can detect and rectify fabric faults on a textile production line?

The quality of premium fabrics is paramount to fashion brands and many fabric wastes were produced due to a few faults appearing on the fabric surface. It is desirable to correct some of these faults online during production process to prevent waste.

You will work on this project as a member of the multidisciplinary Future Fashion Factory team funded by Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). With the help of academics across the School of Design, the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and textile/fashion industrial partners, you will design/prototype a miniaturised sensing platform, and develop sensing algorithm to identify, and rectify if possible, specific fabric faults automatically.

You will have a PhD (or be close in completion) in Sensing, Mechatronics, or a related field or a Masters degree in a related field with relevant experience gained in academia or industry.
