    About These Opportunities

    QARC is seeking three highly motivated Research Fellows to join our world-class team. The Centre is dedicated to optimising the lives of people living with aphasia through research, service, and partnerships, and is the first centre of its kind in Australia.

    Reporting to Associate Professor Sarah Wallace, these Academic Level B opportunities are:

    Position 1 – Full-time (100% FTE)

    • Supports the MRFF-funded project: Unspoken, Unheard, Unmet: Improving Access to Preventative Health Care through Better Conversations about Care.

    • Responsibilities:

      • Coordinate a cluster randomised control trial of the intervention.

      • Prepare ethics and governance submissions.

      • Coordinate collaborators and trial sites.

      • Support participant recruitment and data collection.

    Positions 2 & 3 – Part-time (50% FTE)

    • Support the NHMRC-funded project: Lost Voices: Improving Outcomes for Older Australians with Communication Disability through Identification, Inclusion and Improved Quality of Care.

    • Responsibilities:

      • Coordinate experience testing of interventions.

      • Conduct mixed-methods data analysis.

      • Prepare manuscripts for publication.


    General Responsibilities for All Positions

    • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical and research partners.

    • Contribute to high-quality, peer-reviewed research outputs.

    • Assist in applications for competitive research funding.

    • Contribute to Honours and HDR student supervision.

    • Manage internal and external service and engagement activities.


    About You – Essential Qualifications & Attributes

    • PhD in health or ageing, with qualifications in speech pathology, gerontology, or a related field.

    • Growing research profile in health or ageing.

    • Track record of publications in reputable refereed journals and conference presentations.

    • Experience supervising Honours and Research Higher Degree students.

    • Internal service and external engagement experience.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working with older adults or people with communication disability highly regarded.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritising workload to meet deadlines.

    • Experience in clinical research management and inclusive research methods is highly regarded.
