The University of Queensland Business School

The University of Queensland Business School is independently ranked as one of the top business schools in Australia and among the leading institutions worldwide. Our mission is to cultivate courageous thinkers who empower future leaders to positively transform business and society.

Based at the St Lucia campus as part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the School brings together 12,000 students and 200 subject experts.

About This Opportunity

We seek a full-time postdoctoral research fellow to contribute to a substantive research program on how risk-transfer markets, such as insurance markets, can move towards a societal approach to sharing the growing risk of disasters that are arising from climate change and the potential secondary risks that these disasters give rise to; for example, radicalisation and terrorist attack.

You will develop and support a research program, conduct research, prepare human ethics submissions and publish scholarly papers in conjunction with obtaining and successfully managing significant external research funds. A strong emphasis will be placed on the collection of primary data, generating academic and industry outputs based upon the research and project work.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You should hold a PhD in either strategic management, organization theory, sociology, or a related discipline in addition to demonstrated experience in conducting and analysing qualitative research in complex, multiple stakeholder or multiple case settings.

A strong ethic of project delivery and reporting to specification will be favourably looked upon in addition to demonstrated experience establishing effective relationships to represent and promote the research with industry, government and professional bodies. A full list of the required attributes for Level B and Level C can be located in the below attached position description.

We value diversity and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity to the University. Our Diversity and Inclusion webpage contains further information if you require additional support. Accessibility requirements and/or adjustments can be directed to
