Wageningen University & Research, department Animal Health and Welfare is looking for:
Researcher animal health and welfare 

We are looking for a new researcher who will play a role in animal health, prevention and strategies to reduce antibiotic usages.  

We ask

The ideal candidate is characterized by;

  • A master or PhD degree (postdoc) in animal health, veterinary medicine or related field;
  • Demonstrable expertise in the livestock health and welfare field;
  • Strong affiliation with animal health and welfare:Ability to develop research and innovation programs and project proposals;
    • resilience and one health
    • animal physiology/ immunology
    • understanding of the biology underlying complex phenotype health
  • Ability to initiate (acquire) and execute science-based applied research;
  • Good organizational and excellent communication skills in English and, preferably, Dutch. 
  • Contacts in relevant national and international networks;
  • Project leaders skills and competences demonstrated by leading projects ;
  • The ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

We offer

A challenging position with, depending on your experience, a competitive salary from a minimum of € 2.790,- to a maximum of € 5.183,- for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement Wageningen Research scale 10/11). This position is for at most 36 hours per week, for a period of one years with the intent to be extended; Being part of an excellent research team in a contract research organisation;

The Department Animal Health and Welfare is an enthusiastic team of about 40 employees working on innovation, research and knowledge exchange. Many research challenges have an interdisciplinary character and concern major themes like reduction of antibiotic usages, one health,  animal welfare,  transport, responsible livestock farming and animal health. The department works on welfare and health of cattle, swine, poultry and fish, and on smart livestock farming with sensor technology and big data analyses. 
 
Wageningen Livestock Research develops knowledge for a sustainable and profitable livestock sector, translates this into practice-oriented solutions and innovations, and ensures that this knowledge is disseminated. Together with our clients, and on the basis of practical experience, we integrate our scientific know-how in the areas of livestock systems and of the nutrition, genetics, welfare and environmental impact of farm animals to produce livestock concepts for the 21st century.
