Job summary

Imperial College is seeking to recruit an Early Stage Research (ESR) Fellow as part of an H2020 MSCA European Training Network: “Energy-efficient coding and modulation for wireless edge learning (GREENEDGE)”.

Duties and responsibilities

The research duties principally target original research within the defined scope suitable for the award of the PhD degree at the end of the project. Specific tasks include:

  • Identify fundamental information theoretic performance bounds for distributed learning over noisy communication channels at the network edge.
  • Design practical coding and modulation techniques based on deep learning, which can approach the identified fundamental performance bounds

Essential requirements

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MCSA) PhD Fellowship Eligibility Conditions

  • At the time of recruitment, the applicant must not have lived in UK for more than 12 months in the previous 36 months (3 years).
  • No more than 4 years spent in research/work activities after the achievement of the MS degree.

Preferred and desired criteria are as follows:

  • A Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent.
  • Very good communication skills in oral and written English.
  • Open-mindedness, strong integration skills and team spirit.
  • Desired: Strong mathematical background and desire to work with theoretical concepts.
