The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and The Laboratory of Ecology and Evolution of Interactions invites applications for:


a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.


The projects will be housed at the University of Helsinki Viikki campus in the group of Prof. Johanna Mappes within the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Program.  https://predatorpreyinteractions.com/  We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong background in behavioral ecology, ecology, and/or evolutionary ecology.
 

Position Details:
 

    Focus: Investigating how the interplay between phenotype and genotype affects individual and population fitness.
    Duration: 2-3 years
    Start Date: Negotiable, but no later than the end of April 2025


Key Qualifications:
 

    PhD in a relevant field (Behavioral Ecology, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or related disciplines)
    Strong research background with demonstrable experience in behavioral ecology, ecology, and/or evolutionary ecology
    Experience with experimental design and implementation
    Experience and/or interest in supervising students and coordinating a research team
    Experience with fieldwork; prior experience with Lepidoptera is an asset but not a requirement
    Proven ability to conduct independent research and publish findings in scientific journals
    Excellent teamwork and communication skills
    Driving license

    The salary of the successful candidates will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary will be ca. 3700–4100 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
