The Department of Microbiology seeks outstanding faculty members in any area of microbiology, with particular interest in:
Host-pathogen interactions
Viral and bacterial pathogenesis
Emerging infectious diseases
Faculty will have access to and potential alignment with the Howard T. Ricketts Laboratory (HTRL) at Argonne National Laboratory.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting independent, high-impact research
Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (including potential medical school teaching)
Collaborating across departments and divisions
Participating in PhD committees and the Committee on Microbiology
HTRL & gnotobiotic animal research
Flow cytometry, high-throughput genomics, biocontainment facilities
Duchossois Family Institute resources: biorepositories, metagenomics/metabolomics cores, bioinformatics
Single-cell genomics facility with computational support
Competitive research space and start-up funding
PhD or equivalent in microbiology or related field
Completion of postdoctoral training
Evidence of research excellence
Teaching experience and mentoring ability
