Position Description

The Favilla Lab and the Penn Comprehensive Stroke Center are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary team in supporting multiple NIH-funded projects that span translational and clinical topics in stroke neurology.

The lab focuses on translating bedside cerebral hemodynamic monitoring techniques to refine novel biomarkers in stroke care. The Postdoctoral Researcher will receive training in bedside hemodynamic modalities (e.g., optical CBF imaging, TCD) to support ongoing projects.

This role provides a unique opportunity for significant time at the bedside with human subjects (i.e., stroke patients or other critically ill patients enrolled in our studies). The Postdoctoral Researcher will:

  • Be a key contributor to the multidisciplinary team
  • Explore their own research interests
  • Author manuscripts and present at conferences
  • Develop independent projects within the context of the lab’s larger body of work

Start Date: Summer 2026 (June 1)


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent) in epidemiology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, biostatistics, data science, public health, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated research productivity
  • Experience in clinical research, stroke, neurology, imaging science, or outcomes research is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
