At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a researcher in regenerative neuroimmunology for a position at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience.

Job assignments

The successful candidate will be part of a research project that focuses on the role of the innate immune system in the ischemic brain. A comprehensive assessment of functional outcome will be done as well as brain tissue analysis on cellular and molecular level, in particular using experimental in vivo models of ischemic stroke, immunohistochemistry, brain cell culture systems and other relevant in vitro models.

Qualifications

To qualify as a researcher the applicant should hold a PhD degree in Medicine or equivalent. Qualified candidates should have a strong background in neuroscience and the biology of the complement system. The successful candidate will have well-documented experience with experimental in vivo models of ischemic brain injury, advanced microscopy and image analysis, qPCR and other practical laboratory work as well as extensive experience with advanced statistical data analysis.

The applicant should be autonomous in his/her work, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy working in a research organization. We appreciate that you are accurate, have administrative and strategic skills and also master the English language very well, both in speech and in writing. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 6 months, 100% of full-time and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
