For the project New Technologies for Translational Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (NETPHARM), project registration no. CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004607, under the Operational Programme Johannes Amos Comenius (OP JAK), Priority 1: Research and Development, Specific Objective 1.1: Development and Strengthening of Research and Innovation Capacities and the Implementation of Advanced Technologies, we are seeking a junior research fellow to work on Research Objective No. 5: Advanced in vitro and in silico approaches in drug development.
Our laboratory uses:
Cryo-electron microscopy and tomography to determine 3D structures of viruses and bacteriophages and characterize their infection of cells
Fluorescence light microscopy for time-resolved imaging of phage infection in biofilms
We study:
Human viruses from the families Picornaviridae and Flaviviridae
Tailed phages of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Our structural biology program provides access to:
Titan Krios with Falcon4 and K2 detectors
Talos Arctica
TF20
Versa 3D dual-beam microscope for focused ion beam milling
Technicians are available to assist with routine laboratory tasks.
Analyze binding of therapeutic nanoparticles to the cell surface using cryo-EM
Independently execute experimental research activities
Expand and apply scientific knowledge from individual scientific disciplines
Collect, process, analyze, and interpret scientific papers and reports
Identify and escalate risks to a superior position
No more than 7 years since awarding of Ph.D. or equivalent (Level 8 according to ISCED)
Active knowledge of English
Required education in the relevant field of the research objective
