Position description

The Specialist will assume full research responsibility for presidential documents to be included in the American Presidency Project (APP) project's database. This involves making substantive scientific, scholarly, and intellectual contributions to the research project, including processing raw data into a format compatible with the technical requirements of the website, categorization of documents for the purposes of facilitating research, and quality checking of source material. In addition, the individual will maintain the project's data archive and other materials and generate unique data-driven analyses based on contemporary topics related to the study of the presidency.

The Specialist position is part time (30% time) and has an anticipated start date of October 1, 2021 and an end date of September 30, 2022. The position is open for reappointment, with renewal based on performance and funding

American Presidency Project:


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum requirement to be considered an applicant is completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. except the dissertation (ABD status) in Political Science with a specialization in American Politics.

Preferred qualifications

PhD in Political Science with a specialization in American Politics
