Specified Purpose Whole-time Post

UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Senior Lecturer in Education. Reporting to the Head of School, the successful applicant will be an established scholar with an excellent track record in teaching, research and publication, and administration. The core field of specialisation will be teacher education, including continuing professional development, where teaching and research are closely inter-connected. The appointee will play a key role as Programme Director for the new degree of BEd Gaeilge (with another Language or Mathematics) through leading the programme, co-ordinating school placement, and working closely with Roinn na Nua-Ghaeilge (delivering lectures exclusively through Irish), the School of Languages and the Department of Mathematics. The appointee will contribute to teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the School of Education and engage in postgraduate research supervision. Essential criteria include: a PhD in Education; fluency in Irish and experience in teaching through that medium; an excellent record of research scholarship and publication; proven teaching excellence; proven administrative experience; proven ability to support curriculum development; demonstrated leadership skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to build relations and work collaboratively.

Appointment may be made on the Senior Lectureship Salary Scale: €71,047 – €99,564 (Scale B)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
