Vacancy Overview

University College Cork (UCC) invites applications for the role of Senior Lecturer in Education.

Reporting to the Head of School, the appointee will be expected to:

  • Contribute to teaching, assessment, school placement, and programme development and administration at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  • Engage in research and scholarly activity relevant to the discipline of Education, including research supervision.

  • Deliver teaching across programmes, with a specific contribution to the BEd Physical Education, Sports Studies and Arts programme for the Physical Education and Sports Studies post holder.

The role involves:

  • Lecturing in all areas of Education (pedagogy, professional, and foundation areas)

  • School placement tutoring

  • Supporting postgraduate studies

  • Undertaking research

  • Building and sustaining community links in the education field

  • Contributing to UCC academic life


Candidate Requirements

  • Doctorate in Education

  • Specialist post-primary teaching qualification, with potential recognition by the Teaching Council of Ireland

  • Broad understanding of the Irish education sector

  • Evidence of teaching experience in schools

  • Evidence of research expertise relevant to the grade of the post, with a social justice orientation

  • Contribution to the broader field of education

Salary

  • Senior Lecturer Scale:

    • Scale B: €83,910 – €118,893

    • Scale A: €81,033 – €112,948

  • Salary placement on appointment in line with public sector pay policy
