Position Overview:
The Department of Cultural Sciences invites applications for a permanent, full-time Senior Lecturer in Musicology. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research in musicology at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, participate in course development, supervise student projects, and contribute to the department’s research profile. Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish, with some courses in English.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach musicology courses across multiple perspectives: historical, analytical, sociological, ethnological, media-theoretical, and cultural-theoretical.

  • Supervise undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral projects.

  • Participate in course coordination, development, and administration.

  • Conduct independent research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and engage in national and international research networks.

  • Contribute to leadership roles, interdisciplinary projects, and departmental initiatives.

  • Collaborate within the department, across disciplines, and with the wider society.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Musicology or equivalent expertise.

  • Demonstrated pedagogical competence.

  • Documented research activity and publications.

  • Ability to teach and supervise students in Swedish and English.

  • Strong collaborative and interdisciplinary skills.

Additional Merits:

  • Leadership experience (e.g., Director of Studies).

  • Proven success in obtaining external research funding.

  • Knowledge of the Swedish education system.

  • Ability to teach basic music theory and communicate musicologically.
