Subject/subject description

Programming and system development are central to computer and systems science, and refer to both theoretical studies of algorithms, data structures and programming languages as well as practical skills regarding design, implementation and testing of computer systems.

Main responsibilities

The holder shall conduct teaching, course development and have course responsibility within the department's education at basic and advanced level in programming and system development, as well as participate in the department's work to automate the correction of programming tasks.

The person hired will also be involved in the department's collaboration with the business community and the surrounding society.

The employment includes competence and research time according to the current terms and conditions agreement.

Qualification requirements

Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in Computer and System Sciences, or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.

Teaching proficiency should normally have been demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate- and master’s levels. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.

The applicant must have both good theoretical knowledge of and practical experience of programming and system development.

Since almost all teaching takes place in Swedish, the applicant must have documented good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Assessment criteria

Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills.

Strong emphasis will be placed on the documented ability to collaborate with colleagues and colleagues.

Strong emphasis will be placed on documented theoretical knowledge of and practical experience of programming and system development, including:
- object-oriented programming,
- functional programming,
- logic programming,
- parallel programming,
- AI programming,
- game programming,
- programming language theory,
- development methodology,
- test methodology,
- project methodology.

Emphasis will be placed on knowledge of and experience in programming and system development for web and mobile platforms.

Emphasis will be placed on knowledge of and experience with techniques suitable for automatic correction, e.g. machine learning.

Emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.

Emphasis will be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.

It is a merit to have knowledge of and experience with the programming languages: Python, Java, C ++, C #, Erlang, Haskell, Prolog and Javascript.

It is a merit to have knowledge of and experience in programming quantum computers.

It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
