School of Veterinary Science

The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a well-deserved reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. As one of the largest Veterinary science groups in the Southern Hemisphere, its diverse group of academic and clinical staff contribute to animal science, health and welfare through innovative, practical research, advanced veterinary services and successful industry partnerships.

The role

The successful applicant will undertake teaching and research and service in veterinary science. They will contribute to the teaching of veterinary anatomy and physiology in an integrated and clinically applied context to undergraduate and postgraduate students and will contribute to ongoing development of the curriculum in the field. The successful applicant will be expected to have veterinary clinical skills and experience. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the national and international research profile of the School, through contributions to clinical and translational research and supervision of higher degree by research students, and individuals in advanced clinical specialty training programs. Depending on skills and experience, the appointee may be expected to contribute to a clinical roster service providing clinical services to the community and to referring veterinarians, including participation in an after-hours on-call roster.

This position is located at The University of Queensland’s picturesque Gatton Campus. Gatton Campus, UQ combines its Queensland Agricultural College heritage with modern research and teaching facilities in veterinary science and agriculture. Just over an hour’s drive west of Brisbane and five kilometres from the local township, the 1068-hectare Gatton campus offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and world-class facilities.

The person

Applicants should have a degree in Veterinary Science (or equivalent), registrable in Queensland. Ideally you will have advanced training in veterinary surgery or other related discipline, along with a demonstrated ability to teach students at undergraduate, postgraduate and/or professional level. Successful applicants will also be required to have demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience, along with evidence of clinical research experience including successful applications for research funding and have published research results in peer-reviewed journals.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing position at Academic level C. The remuneration package will be in the range $121,939 - $140,603 (FTE), plus super of up to 17%.
