Senior Research Assistant in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 502433) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in epidemiology, genetics, statistics, or other relevant disciplines. A good track record of publications would be an advantage but not essential.  Preference will be given to those with research experience in using genetics to evaluate medication effects in large biobanks, summary statistics from genome-wide association studies, and/or Mendelian randomization in general.

The appointee will conduct research using the “Children of 1997” birth cohort, one of the flagship cohorts of the School of Public Health, together with UK Biobank and summary statistics from genome-wide association studies, to evaluate health effects of medications. He/She will assist in conventional Mendelian randomization analyses, data cleaning and analyses; conduct literature review; draft scientific publications; and perform general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.  Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Dr. Ryan Au Yeung at ayslryan@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. together with a relevant research publication.  Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until December 31, 2020, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
