Senior Research Assistant (holding the functional title of Project Manager) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 503061) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in public health, medical science, or related disciplines, with a current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate and at least three years’ work experience. They should have solid experience in managing clinical studies; an excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and IT proficiency (MS Word and Excel). They should be responsible, ethical, self-motivated, detail-minded, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. Research experience in infectious disease epidemiology and/or COVID-19 would be an advantage.

The appointee will manage a team of research staff to conduct a community-based research study on the epidemiology and/or vaccine responses of respiratory virus infections (e.g. COVID-19 and influenza). He/She will plan, coordinate, train and motivate team members to recruit participants, conduct regular follow-up through interviews and questionnaires, collect clinical specimens collection such as blood draws and respiratory specimens, and conduct active surveillance of illnesses and health education. He/She will also develop and ensure good research practice in compliance with standardized operating procedures (SOPs), GCP and regulatory requirements; liaise with ethics, regulatory and external bodies; assist in quality assurance; and participate in investigator meetings. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
