The Department of Biology at the Technical University of Darmstadt invites applications for the position of a

University Professorship (W3) for Molecular Genetics

We are looking for internationally recognized candidates whose research is molecularly and interdisciplinarily oriented. Possible research fields include: Organization, regulation and dynamics of genome activity, regulation of temporal/spatial gene expression patterns in tissues, structure-function analyses of regulatory proteins and/or RNA, regulation of RNA metabolism, epigenetics, synthetic genetic systems, study of genetic networks, genome stability and inheritance. Preference will be given to research on eukaryotes.

The two main research areas of the department "Synthetic Biology" and/or "Radiation Response and Genome Stability" will be strengthened and expanded. The Department of Biology and the TU Darmstadt offer a stimulating and highly interdisciplinary research environment. Interactions with other natural and engineering sciences at the TU Darmstadt as well as within the RMU network are explicitly desired.

The candidate is expected to independently teach courses in Biology (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and Biomolecular Engineering (B.Sc. and M.Sc.). Teaching encompasses the entire scope of genetics. Many courses in the master's programs are taught in English.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a natural science with suitable pedagogical qualifications, an excellent knowledge of German and English as well as the willingness to participate in academic self-administration.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under ยงยง 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
