Work­ing field:

The Insti­tute of Archi­tec­ture is part of Fac­ulty VI - Plan­ning Build­ing Envir­on­ment - and is organ­ized into 19 pro­fess­or­ships. The Insti­tute is involved in teach­ing in the degree pro­grams in Archi­tec­ture (bach­elor’s and mas­ter’s), Urban Design, and His­toric Build­ing Research.

The cent­ral task of the pro­fess­or­ship for Archi­tec­ture, Build­ing Tech­no­logy and Sys­tems lies in the teach­ing and research of future tech­no­logy sys­tems as a hol­ist­ic­ally inter- and trans­dis­cip­lin­ary-planned com­pon­ent in archi­tec­tural design. In addi­tion to energy, the trans­form­a­tion of tech­no­logy sys­tems is also a key issue at a time when we are hav­ing to adapt to cli­mate change and the scarcity of resources.

In teach­ing, com­puls­ory and com­puls­ory elect­ive courses are to be taught in archi­tec­ture pro­grams (bach­elor’s and mas­ter’s), look­ing in par­tic­u­lar at the design of archi­tec­tures of trans­form­a­tion with a focus on tech­no­logy sys­tems.

In the field of research, archi­tec­tures and build­ing sys­tems of trans­form­a­tion for dif­fer­ent cli­mates and cul­tures are to be developed in cooper­a­tion with other pro­fess­or­ships and insti­tutes at Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin and bey­ond.

Require­ments:

Applic­ants must qual­ify for appoint­ment in accord­ance with the require­ments of Sec­tion 100 of the Ber­lin Act on Higher Edu­ca­tion (Ber­lHG). These include ped­ago­gical and didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions doc­u­mented by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (fur­ther inform­a­tion can be found on the TUB homepage, quick access 144242).

We are look­ing for a per­son with the fol­low­ing skills and exper­i­ence:
  • Pro­found exper­i­ence as an archi­tect in integ­rat­ive design;
  • A proven research track record in archi­tec­ture, tech­no­logy and sys­tems;
  • Demon­strated abil­ity in the imple­ment­a­tion of mod­ern build­ing tech­no­logy with reduced tech­no­logy approach and / or real­ized pro­jects in build­ing design;
  • Rel­ev­ant teach­ing activ­it­ies in the above-men­tioned area;
  • Will­ing­ness to par­ti­cip­ate in inter- and trans­dis­cip­lin­ary cooper­a­tion;
  • Will­ing­ness to engage in aca­demic self-gov­ern­ment.
Applic­a­tions are par­tic­u­larly sought from per­sons with out­stand­ing pro­fes­sional exper­i­ence in prac­tice (Sec­tion 100 (4) Ber­lHG). Applic­ants must be able to give courses in Ger­man and Eng­lish (see the Aca­demic Sen­ate’s cur­rent decision on lan­guage policy, TUB web­site quick access 210868).

Suc­cess­ful applic­ants are able to respons­ibly dir­ect a chair/depart­ment, sup­port junior schol­ars, deal effect­ively with issues relat­ing to gender and diversity and integ­rate gender issues into research.
