Working field:
The Institute of Architecture is part of Faculty VI - Planning Building Environment - and is organized into 19 professorships. The Institute is involved in teaching in the degree programs in Architecture (bachelor’s and master’s), Urban Design, and Historic Building Research.
The central task of the professorship for Architecture, Building Technology and Systems lies in the teaching and research of future technology systems as a holistically inter- and transdisciplinary-planned component in architectural design. In addition to energy, the transformation of technology systems is also a key issue at a time when we are having to adapt to climate change and the scarcity of resources.
In teaching, compulsory and compulsory elective courses are to be taught in architecture programs (bachelor’s and master’s), looking in particular at the design of architectures of transformation with a focus on technology systems.
In the field of research, architectures and building systems of transformation for different climates and cultures are to be developed in cooperation with other professorships and institutes at Technische Universität Berlin and beyond.
Requirements:
Applicants must qualify for appointment in accordance with the requirements of Section 100 of the Berlin Act on Higher Education (BerlHG). These include pedagogical and didactic qualifications documented by a teaching portfolio (further information can be found on the TUB homepage, quick access 144242). We are looking for a person with the following skills and experience:
- Profound experience as an architect in integrative design;
- A proven research track record in architecture, technology and systems;
- Demonstrated ability in the implementation of modern building technology with reduced technology approach and / or realized projects in building design;
- Relevant teaching activities in the above-mentioned area;
- Willingness to participate in inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation;
- Willingness to engage in academic self-government.
Applications are particularly sought from persons with outstanding professional experience in practice (Section 100 (4) BerlHG). Applicants must be able to give courses in German and English (see the Academic Senate’s current decision on language policy, TUB website quick access 210868).
Successful applicants are able to responsibly direct a chair/department, support junior scholars, deal effectively with issues relating to gender and diversity and integrate gender issues into research.
